Prepping for school interviews
As most HK parents know, preparing and getting your little one into a kindergarten is competitive and stressful. However, there are ways you can prepare your child and set them up for success!
- Encourage your child to be independent – let your child tidy up their toys, brush their teeth and hair themselves.
- Teach them simple vocabulary – such as common household items, food, animals, and body parts
- Play nursery rhymes and popular children music – so that they are familiar with the words and actions of the songs, and ready to join in any music-based activities during the interview
- Arrange lots of play dates – to encourage social skills, sharing and inclusiveness, which are things that schools look for in their students.
On the day of the interview, make sure you and your child are well rested, calm and happy. Don’t stress yourself out as your child will sense it.
Parents should always do their homework and research the school, understand their values and teaching methods. Be prepared to genuinely answer why you have chosen their school in particular (over other schools) and how you will support your child’s development journey at home.
Our Play Smarter Toy Boxes are designed to help young children be independent, practice their fine motor and language skills!
Each Toy Box focuses on a developmental area and is a great way to complement your child’s home learning journey.
Prepping for interviews can actually be a fun & memorable experience for you and your little one 👨👩👧
